Supported by financial assistance as a child, Melissa's journey at the YMCA came full circle from a youth leader to a lifelong donor and advocate. Her story is a powerful testament to how your donations provide vulnerable families with the life-changing programs they need to thrive.

Melissa K. grew up attending YMCA programs at the Bob Chan-Kent Family YMCA. Her family was one of many who received financial assistance, thanks to kind YMCA donors, to access programs.
When Melissa was a teen, her mother enrolled her in the YMCA Youth Leadership Development program where she learned leadership skills, expanded her social connections, and found great career opportunities. She now works in recreation herself and is a mom to three young children.
“I really believe in recreation as a mechanism to keep kids healthy and active and moving forward," says Melissa. “My own life is a testament to that and that’s why I give.”
Melissa’s journey at the Y has come full circle. She’s now in a place to make her own donations to the YMCA, so that other vulnerable children and families have the opportunity to access programs like swimming lessons, child care, physical literacy, and Youth Leadership Development.
Melissa states, “I think it’s important to give to the things you believe in.”
Your gift today can be the start of someone else’s full-circle journey. Just as donors once cleared the path for Melissa to discover her potential, your generosity ensures that no child or family is turned away from the life-changing programs they need to thrive.
