Finding your first job or starting a new chapter in Canada can feel overwhelming without guidance and support. YEB helps young people gain clarity, confidence, and practical job skills that open the door to meaningful work. Through hands-on learning, coaching and personalized employment planning, we help youth ages 15 to 30 discover their strengths and take real steps toward career success.

Program overview

Whether you’re exploring the job market, learning how to network or need to tailor your resume, our Coaches work with you at your pace. As part of the YMCA Employment Services, Youth Employment Bootcamp (YEB) is a free, multi-week program designed to help youth prepare for work.

The program youth ages 15–30 as they explore their strengths, build confidence, develop job-ready skills, and connect with employers through a combination of workshops, one-on-one coaching, accredited training and financial supports.

Advantages of participating include the opportunity to obtain key employment skills and certifications, potential access to financial supports, a free YMCA membership and more!

This program is available in downtown Vancouver.

Program eligibility
  • Age: Be between the ages of 15 and 30
  • Residency Status: Must be legally entitled to work in Canada (Canadian Citizen, Permanent Resident, or Protected Person with a positive Notice of Decision)
  • Employment Status: Must be currently unemployed or underemployed (working fewer than 20 hours per week) and actively seeking full- or part-time work
  • Student Status: Must NOT be enrolled in full-time studies or returning to school full-time in the coming months
  • Please note that participants must also have a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN)

Program schedule
  • Length: Multi-week bootcamp (varies by cohort)
  • Mode: Hybrid (mix of in-person + virtual sessions)
  • Format: Includes structured cohort-based learning, virtual learning modules and personal coaching
  • Schedule: Program scheduling varies by cohort; exact times are shared upon registration

What certifications can I earn?

The program includes accredited and employer-recognized certifications such as FOODSAFE Level 1, and may offer First Aid, WHMIS, SuperHost, or other workplace training depending on cohort.

How often is the program offered?

The bootcamp runs periodically throughout the year. Participants receive exact session dates once they register.

Do I need work experience to join?

o. The program is designed for youth at all levels, including those entering the workforce for the first time.

Will this program help me find a job?

The program provides job-search coaching, resume and interview preparation, and skill-building to increase your readiness for employment. While it does not guarantee a job, it equips you with tools to succeed.

Do participants receive financial support?

Eligible participants may receive a living allowance based on attendance and engagement, plus additional supports if required.
