Through hands-on experience and industry-led training, we help you step into the trades with purpose and pride.

Program overview

TradeWorks is a youth-focused employment program that prepares individuals for entry-level work in construction and related trades.

Delivered in collaboration with Thompson Rivers University (TRU), WorkBC and the BC Provincial Government, the program combines hands-on training, workplace readiness, industry-recognized safety certifications, and work experience to support pathways into employment or further trades training.

This program is available in Kamloops and Clearwater, BC.
Program benefits
  • Build Industry-Ready Skills:
    • Equip participants with hands-on technical training, workplace readiness, and industry-recognized safety certifications required to enter the Canadian trades workforce with confidence
  • Create Pathways to Employment:
    • Bridge the gap between entry-level interest and sustainable careers by providing direct work experience and connecting youth to employment opportunities in construction and related trades
  • Foster Professional Growth and Purpose:
    • Support young people in developing the pride, purpose, and foundational experience necessary to pursue further trades training or long-term success in the workforce
Program eligibility
  • Unemployed people eligible to work in BC;
  • Have established a claim for Employment Insurance (EI) benefits; or
  • Have had an EI benefits period that ended within the previous 60 months; or
  • Have earned more than $2,000 in insurable earnings and paid employee EI premiums on those earnings in at least 5 of the last 10 years (Note: the 5 years do not have to be consecutive years); or
  • Receiving BC Employment and Assistance; and
  • Support and referral from WorkBC Employment Services Contractor (Work BC) and an Indigenous Skills Employment Training (ISET) Provider

  • Program length: 16-week training program
  • Programs run February, April, June and September 2026
