We are committed to providing youth the support they need to thrive, which is why we run Youth Around Prince (YAP) – a downtown resource centre for youth in Prince George. YAP reflects the YMCA’s commitment to equity, wellbeing and accessible support for all young people.
Youth Around Prince is a free downtown resource centre that provides a safe, inclusive space where youth can relax, build friendships, express themselves and access essential resources without judgment. Staff create a youth centered environment that values identity, voice and empowerment.
At Youth Around Prince drop-in, we help youth find shelter and work on their resumes so that they can find employment, host workshops to teach different life skills, provide snacks and cooking classes. We also offer front-line services such as showers, laundry, a kitchen, phone, mailing address, photocopier, fax machine and computer access free of charge.
Many agencies within Youth Around Prince offer different programs and opportunities such as pre-employment training, youth-led forum theatre, one-on-one and group counseling, and more.
This program removes barriers, strengthens belonging, and ensures youth have access to connection, support and essential services.
