Y Fitness and Group Fitness Classes

Fitness for every level

YMCA BC members enjoy access to well-equipped fitness centres with modern strength and cardio equipment, designed to support all fitness levels. Group fitness classes are included with membership and offered throughout the week, creating opportunities to stay motivated and active together.

From indoor cycling and strength training to yoga and pilates (and dozens more!), classes are led by experienced instructors and designed to be fun, inclusive, and energizing for all ages and abilities.

Yoga
Our all-levels yoga classes focus on physical postures, breathing techniques, and mindfulness to improve flexibility and strength. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced practitioner, our instructors provide modifications to suit every body. Programming availability varies by centre location.
Y Thrive
Work with a trainer to find a pre-choreographed routine that matches your fitness level and personal goals. During your session, a trainer will demonstrate each move and check your form to ensure you can exercise safely and effectively on your own. Programming availability varies by centre location.
Strength & Conditioning
Elevate your fitness with a variety of group classes ranging from low-impact functional movement to high-intensity interval training. Designed for all skill levels, our sessions use weights, barbells, and bodyweight exercises to build total-body strength. Programming availability varies by centre location.
Cycle-fit
Join our motivating instructors for a heart-pumping indoor cycling workout designed to build cardiovascular endurance and leg strength. With adjustable resistance, this low-impact class allows you to control the intensity of your ride. Programming availability varies by centre location.
Step
This classic cardio workout uses an adjustable platform to boost your heart rate and tone your lower body. Choreographed to motivating music, Step offers a fun way to improve coordination and cardiovascular endurance.
Cardio
Get your heart pumping and your energy soaring! Our Cardio program offers a high-energy workout designed to improve cardiovascular health, build endurance and burn calories. Programming availability varies by centre location.
Dance-fit
Shake up your fitness routine with a high-energy dance workout that combines cardio with fun, rhythmic movements. Led by motivating instructors, this class is designed for all fitness levels to burn calories while having a blast. Programming availability varies by centre location.
Y Aquatics and Swim Lessons

Swim, learn, and stay active

Aquatics programs at the Y support fitness, safety, and confidence in the water. Members can enjoy lane swimming, leisure swims, aqua-fit and aquatic fitness classes at select locations.

YMCA BC’s continuous swim lessons for children and adults focus on water safety, skill development, and comfort in the water. With flexible options and a supportive environment, participants can progress at their own pace.

Swim Lessons
Swim lessons help children, youth, and adults build water confidence, improve swimming skills, and learn important water safety techniques. We provide structured, strength-based instruction for all skill levels, including parent and tot, private, and semi-private options. Programming availability varies by centre location.
Lifeguard In Training (LIT)
This program is the perfect next step for youth to build confidence and develop foundational water safety skills. Participants learn the essentials of lifeguarding in a supportive environment while preparing for future leadership roles. Programming availability varies by centre location.
Aqua-fit
Experience an effective workout in shallow or deep water that improves endurance and flexibility while reducing joint stress. Led by trained instructors, our classes use water resistance and specialized equipment to help you customize your intensity. Programming availability varies by centre location.
National Lifeguard (NL)
This comprehensive certification prepares candidates for professional lifeguarding through a mix of daily wet and dry training. Participants must be at least 15 years old and hold both Bronze Cross and Standard First Aid certifications. Programming availability varies by centre location.
Swim Instructor Full Course
This comprehensive course provides the certification and training needed to teach swimming skills to all ages and ability levels. Participants will develop effective teaching techniques through both classroom learning and hands-on water practice. Programming availability varies by centre location.

From recreation and after-school activities to family programs and youth initiatives, YMCA BC's Child, youth and family programs create safe and welcoming spaces for children and youth to learn, grow and stay active. Family-focused offerings make it easier for everyone to participate and feelpart of the Y community.

Little Learners
Ignite curiosity through a blend of creative arts, introductory learning, and active play designed to build early confidence. Our hands-on activities support every child’s development, helping them stay healthy, social, and eager to learn. Programming availability varies by centre location.
Family Playtime
Our playroom is filled with toys and soft play equipment, perfect for developing essential motor skills while learning to play and share. It’s the ideal space for children to grow and have fun alongside their families. Programming availability varies by centre location.
Childminding
Enjoy a workout, a swim, or a break while your child is in the capable hands of our trained staff. Advanced registration and additional fees apply through our community portal. Programming availability varies by centre location.
Karate for Kids
This program will help your child develop a solid foundation for life-long karate practice and form long-lasting friendships. Coached by certified Black Belt instructors. Programming availability varies by centre location.
Kid's Basketball
A beginner-friendly basketball program that helps children develop coordination, confidence, and teamwork while learning the fundamentals of the game. Programming availability varies by centre location.
Y Kid's Soccer
Our kid's soccer program, also called Y Kickers, focuses on the fundamentals of the game through fun drills and friendly matches. Children develop coordination and sportsmanship while staying active and making new friends. Programming availability varies by centre location.

YMCA BC's personal training provides guidance and support to help members reach their fitness and wellness goals. Certified trainers work with individuals to create personalized plans based on experience, goals and comfort level.

Whether you are just getting started, returning to exercise, orlooking to take the next step, personal training offers structure, motivation and expert support along the way.

NHL Street introduces children to hockey through accessible, equipment-free gameplay that focuses on fun, teamwork and learning the fundamentals of the sport.
Y Soccer
YMCA Soccer introduces children to the fundamentals of soccer through skill-building activities and friendly scrimmages in a supportive, non-competitive environment.
Y Youth Basketball League
