
Startup to Success reflects the YMCA’s commitment to equitable access, opportunity and youth empowerment. Delivered in partnership with JA British Columbia, the program removes financial barriers, creates inclusive learning spaces and supports Prince George youth from all backgrounds to discover their strengths while earning as they learn.
Startup to Success is a free 16 week after school program that empowers youth ages 16 to 18 to explore entrepreneurship and build confidence in their future. Trained volunteers create a safe, encouraging environment where young people feel valued, respected and supported as they explore communication, leadership and financial literacy.
This program is in partnership with JA British Columbia, a not-for-profit impact organization that delivers free hands-on, immersive education in work readiness, financial health and entrepreneurship. Learn more at jabc.org

Do I need business experience?
No. The program meets youth where they are and supports beginners with step by step guidance.

Yes. Staff and volunteers work with youth to create a supportive learning environment tailored to individual strengths and needs.
How does Startup to Success support equity?
The program is free, inclusive, and designed to welcome youth from all backgrounds. It removes financial and systemic barriers and provides access to mentorship and skills that many young people may not otherwise receive.
Will I be paid?
Yes. Youth earn while participating in the business component.
