Mental Wellness Workshops
Program overview

Mental Wellness Workshops provide introductory learning on mental health and emotional well-being through accessible, practical sessions for families and caregivers. Topics include mindfulness, self-compassion for caregivers, understanding anxiety or depression and supporting youth mental wellness. Sessions blend learning with hands-on activities such as games, stories and art, making the content engaging and family-friendly.

The goal is to equip participants with simple, repeatable tools that can be used at home to support healthy coping and connection. Some of the previous workshops have supported:

  • in increasing mental wellness literacy for parents, caregivers and children
  • teaching practical coping tools that can be applied daily
  • strengthening family connection through shared learning

Guided by YMCA values of inclusion, connection and lifelong learning, the workshops create a welcoming space where participants can learn, reflect and practice tools together and are offered in Kamloops.
